Life Has Changed, A New Normal

This past week, my mother went home to be with the Lord. Monday, November 1, 2010 was the day, exactly between my brother's birthday (October 1) and mine (November 30). She loved us both equally.
We as finite people oftentimes look at death as an end and can so easily be caught in the "what if's" or "if only's". Our minds rocked to and fro like the crashing of waves against the bow of a ship. Determined to make sense of the whole situation, we analyze each detail and place our lives' events under a microscope, searching and hoping for the one nugget of information that will solve the puzzle and bring us to a place of satisfaction. My friends, how mysterious and trivial that can be....

Though our culture travels at the speed of light, a phone call today was a reminder of a time "less traveled". If today is the day the Lord hath made, do you think He would be pleased at what he sees? "What do you mean?" you might ask. Ask yourself how long it has been since you sat down with a friend and simply reminisced; mused over a cup of Joe without a concern for time, the next appointment.
A phone call I made to gather information for a project set within the constraints of a rushed timeline was turned into a fifteen minute preamble of conversation that had nothing to do with the task at hand. My colleague did not answer...
